Editorial Tips: Maintaining Productivity in the middle of WFH
Many companies in the
world have implemented a work from home system or WFH in anticipation of the
spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, for the sake of creating good communication
and not reducing contributions to companies in the middle of WFH, in order to
maintain the sustainability of the company in the face of heavy competition in
the PJ PUR industry. Like other companies, PT SSI also implements the WFH
policy.
The company invites
all SSI personnel to reduce the number of cases of the spread of COVID-19 by
always complying with existing health protocols and regulations. However,
employees are still productive for the sake of turning the wheels of the
company's activities.
This time the editorial team will share tips on staying productive during WFH:
1. Prepare to start the day for WFH
Do not wear pajamas or nightgowns during WFH. Keep showering in the morning and dress modestly and casually make us feel ready for WFH.
2. Have a personal workspace
If you do not have a work space at home, as much as possible create a special space for work. Because, not having a work space when working remotely can cause a decrease in productivity. Not lying in bed with a laptop, try to create a conducive atmosphere. The fix, can move the desk where you work to a corner away from distractions, and provide a chair as is done at an office table. The existence of a special workspace can make you concentrate. It also serves as an important signal to those who live with you that you are 'at work'.
3. Create limits on
working hours
It is also important to provide a limit on working hours. In a survey, WFH's biggest complaint was the inability to put boundaries at work. In addition, start and end work with light things like 20 minutes of coffee in the morning and then exercise right after work to start and close the day.
4. Avoid feeling isolated
For the COVID-19 pandemic, it is unclear how long people will be at home, which poses additional problems. Prolonged isolation also has the potential to have an impact on morale and productivity. Additionally, solitude can make people feel less motivated and less productive. So when you're communicating with your Lead and team from home, it's a good idea to have as much communication as possible whether it's face-to-face or virtual, such as video calls, Skype, Zoom.
5. Keep team communication alive
The key to working from home is clear communication with your Leader and knowing exactly what is expected of you. While working in the office, most workers spend time near the Chairman, meaning that communication is easy and effortless. However, it is different from remote work, sometimes there are communication problems because you are not familiar with virtual communication. For example, your company may not have a set of ready-made tools for remote workers, such as the chat app Slack or the video conferencing app Zoom.
6. Stay enthusiastic
The solution to work
from home is as much face-to-face online interaction via video calling as
possible, keeping the news to the boss on a regular basis. Especially, for
employees who live alone and may feel more isolated and have regular meetings
without an agenda, such as grabbing a coffee or a drink. If you are a boss, you
must provide clear communication and it is also important to maintain morale.
